Silent Name 2YO Finds a 2nd Stakes Victory

08.31.2016 -

Lokinforpursemonee, sent to post as the prohibitive 2-5 mutuel favourite, collared Pachi Cruze late in the lane to win the $200,000 OLG Simcoe Stakes, presented by Samuel, Son & Co. Ltd, part of Wednesday night's Canadian Millions card, at Woodbine.

Trained by John Ross for his J.R. Racing Stable, Lokinforpursemonee was looking for racing room under Gary Boulanger at the top of the lane, but once clear, the Silent Name bay surged impressively to overtake Frost King Stakes winner Pachi Cruze.

Napayshni and Leonard's Bay battled for the lead in the 6 1/2-furlong Tapeta sprint for juveniles as Pachi Cruze stalked early splits of :22.94 and :46.48.  Lokinforpursemonee, last of seven in the early running, moved into fourth behind rivals at the top of the land and overcame a lack of racing room by angling inside of Totally Unexpected to overtake Pachi Cruze for the win. Blu Without You rallied late to complete the triactor. Lokinforpursemonee covered 6 1/2-furlongs in 1:18.79.

"He's been a dynamite little horse. Trains well in the morning and does all the things that good horses do," said Ross. "You can race him from behind and he goes through tight situations in the race and that's what a classy horse does. We're thrilled to have him in the barn."

Lokinforpursemonee debuted with a second-place finish to Simcoe rival Pachi Cruze in the Frost King Stakes on June 26.  The bay colt, a $30,000 purchase at the 2015 Canadian Premier Yearling Sale, came right back to win the six furlong Victoria Stakes on July 17 before a brief freshening ahead of his Simcoe score.

"I encourage people to come to the sale," said Ross. "When you can buy a little horse like this, through great consignors, and he's made over $180,000 now, it's great. You do your homework, you can find something like this one possibly."

Lokinforpursemonee, bred in Ontario by Hill N Dale Farms, banked $125,000 in victory while improving his record to two wins from three starts. He's one of four 2016 blacktype juveniles for Silent Name, Canada's #1 Two-Year-Old sire.
