$675,000 Point of Entry Colt at OBS March

03.14.2017 -

Hip #605, a colt from the first crop by five-time Grade 1 winner Point of Entry, sold for $675,000 at the OBS March Two-Year-Old in Training sale. The price is second-highest for a juvenile by a 2017 first year sire.

Out of the stakes-placed Medaglia d'Oro daughter Hug It Out, the colt sizzled in his 1/4 mile breeze on March 11. He stopped the clock in :20.3, the second-fastest work at the distance. It was a home run for consignor All Dreams Equine with a colt who 'RNA'd' as both a weanling and a yearling. Narvick International signed the $675,000 ticket.

The previous day, the first two juveniles by Point of Entry were sold for $210,000 and $190,000, respectively.

Hip #119, a filly consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, was purchased for $210,000 by Jay Hanley after a sterling breeze in :10.1 on March 9 (watch here).

The pretty gray is out of the stakes-winning Buddha daughter Red Hot Buddha.

Later in the afternoon Hip #239 commanded $190,000 from Bradley Thoroughbreds. The colt posted an impressive breeze on March 10, screaming home in :10 flat (watch here).

He's out of the Consolidator mare Sweet Assay who hails from the family of graded winner A. P. Assay and three-time Grade 1 winner Came Home among others.

Point of Entry first crop juveniles are averaging $358,333, second only to Orb among First Crop sires.
