Point Of Entry Colt Delivers Breathtaking Performance in Demille S. (G3)

11.26.2017 -

‘TDN Rising Star' Analyze It followed up a sparkling debut victory at Belmont with a dominant wire-to-wire score on the West Coast in Sunday’s Cecil B. DeMille S. (G3).

The effort set Twitter ablaze with superlatives:

For 33-1 longshot King Eddie, it was a speed duel. But for 1-2 favorite Analyze It, the opening portion of Sunday's Grade 3, $100,000 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes looked like more of a canter. The 2-year-old by Point of Entry opened it up when asked by Jockey Jose Ortiz and won for fun, finishing a mile in a final time of 1:35.05 after going the opening quarter in 23.40 and the half in 47.48 seconds.

"He was doing it pretty easy -- very, very easy," Ortiz said. "I knew I had a lot of horse. When we passed the 3/8 pole I knew I had a really nice horse. I love riding horses like this; when you ask them to go, they go.”

The jockey added that Analyze It is "pretty scary. I haven't ridden one like this -- a 2-year-old -- in a while."

Let go at retrospectively astonishing odds of 13-1 in his career debut, Analyze It dropped a :22 4/5 closing quarter-mile en route to a decisive 6 1/4-length victory in his one-mile unveiling at Belmont Oct. 28. The bay posted two workouts at Big Sandy in the interim before shipping westward.

Brown also won Sunday’s Grade 1 Matriarch at Del Mar with Off Limits, an experienced older filly. Consider this: Analyze It's final time at the same distance was just 0.68 seconds slower in his second career start.

Point of Entry is currently the sire of 10 winners in four countries including the additional stakes winners Glamantaion.
