Mt Veeder is Ghostzapper's 16th Blacktyper Winner of 2017

11.23.2017 -

Mt Veeder gained command after a half mile and coasted to an easy win in the $75,000 Zia Park Sprint Stakes. The son of Ghostzapper is the 16th blacktype winner for his sire in 2017 and his fourth in 11 days.

Bred in Kentucky by Hans Poetsch, Mt Veeder was purchased for $200,000 at the 2014 Keeneland September Sale by Stonestreet Farm and George Bolton. He won the Contender Stakes for those connections before changing hands again. He now races in the colors of Bill Tomasic.

The four-year-old gelding entered the Zia Park Sprint off a good third in the Premier Cup Stakes over the Zia Park strip on September 11. He's now been on the board in 11 of 14 career outings.

Mt Veeder continued an especially brilliant November for Ghostzapper who, just eleven days earlier, was represented by a trio of blacktype winners. Among Ghostzapper's other blacktype winners this year are Queen's Plate heroine Holy Helena, Santa Anita H. (G1) hero (and future Adena Springs stallion) Shaman Ghost and multiple Grade 1 winner Paulassilverlining, a leading contender for the Filly & Mare Sprinter Eclipse Award.
