Ghostzapper's Paulassilverlining Named Eclipse Award Finalist

01.05.2018 -

Multiple Grade 1 winner Paulassilverling was named a finalist for the 2017 Female Sprinter Eclipse Award. It's the second consecutive year the daughter of Ghostzapper has been a finalist for the honor.

Her two Grade 1 victories in 2017 - the Madison Stakes at Keeneland and the subsequent Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs - make her the favorite for the award this year. Her fellow finalists, Unique Bella and Bar of Gold, have but two Grade 1 wins between them.

Should she win she would be Ghostzapper's fourth North American Champion after Judy the Beauty (Eclipse Award/Filly & Mare Sprinter), Hunters Bay (Sovereign Award/Older Male) and Shaman Ghost (Sovereign Award/3YO Male).

Paulassilverlinng was bred in Kentucky by Vincent Scuderi, who sold her to Juddmonte Farms in early 2017. Purchased primarily as a 2018 mate for their superstar colt Arrogate, she was kept in training. That decision was rewarded with a sensational season in which she also carried the famed pink and teal silks to victory in Saratoga's Honorable Miss S. (G2).

Paulassilverining was a Stakes winner in each of her four seasons on the track and earned $1,516,230. Overall she was victorious 11 of her 23 starts, all but two of those wins came in Stakes events.

The Eclipse Award ceremony will be held on January 25 at Gulfstream Park. Adena Springs owner Frank Stronach is to be honored that night with the Eclipse Award of Merit.
