Ghostzapper Yearling Commands $600,000 at Keeneland September

09.11.2018 -

A quartet of Ghostzapper yearlings commanded at least $300,000 over the first two days of the Keeneland September Yearling auction, topped by a striking $600,000 colt on Day 2.

Consigned by Runnymede Farm as Hip #290, the colt is out of the stakes winner/Grade 1-placed Pinch Pie. White Birch Farm (Peter Brant) signed the $600,000 ticket.

Albaugh Family Stable, who have had success with Ghostzapper sons in the past, secured a pair of Ghostzapper colts for $370,000 and $325,000, respectively.

The $370,000 colt (Hip #240) was consigned by St. George Sales and is the first foal out of the Smart Strike mare Native Strike, a daughter of the multiple Grade 1 heroine Pure Clan.

The $325,000 colt (Hip #40) from the Burleson Farm consignment has a pedigree familiar to the Albaughs. He's out of the mare Indian Princess, a daughter of Indian Charlie, also the damsire of the Albaugh's Ghostzapper stakes winner Dak Attack. Purchased for $625,000 at the 2016 Keeneland September auction 'Dak' began his career last fall with two straight victories, including a score in the Ellis Park Juvenile. He's set to resume his 3-year-old campaign at Churchill Downs on September 14.

Overall, 8 Ghostzapper yearlings sold for an average price of $300,625 over the first two days of the auction.
