1st Mucho Macho Man Yearlings in High Demand at Keeneland

09.20.2017 -

A quartet of yearlings from the first crop by Breeders' Cup Classic champion Mucho Macho Man commanded six-figure bids at the 2017 Keeneland September sale.

Hip #3213 - $170,000
The highest-selling colt of the September 20 session. He hails from the prolific female family of two-time Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart. Select Sales consigned the tremendous colt, Michael Neatherlin signed the ticket.

"My client was concerned when he was catalogued in Book 5, but I reassured her, because he's such an outstanding physical," said Carrie Brogden of Select Sales. "He had 10 scopes. He was vetted tons of times... He was the real deal. When he came in the back ring he just owned it and people swarmed him. We were thrilled and really beside ourselves. There was so much interest in him and Ciaran Dunne was the direct underbidder on him and was not too happy that he didn't get him, that's for sure."

Hip #1810 - $135,000
This filly is out of the Stakes-placed Rock Hard Ten mare Raucous Lady. Consigned by Hidden Brook Farm, she was purchased by agent Hal Hatch.

Hip #1821 - $110,000
A filly out of multiple Graded Stakes winner Rite Moment, the dam of multiple Stakes winner Moment is Right. She was purchased by Southcoast Bloodstock Agent out of the Woodford Thoroughbreds consignment.

Hip #727 - $100,000
Famed Darby Dan Farm sold this colt out of the Stakes-placed Pure Prize dam Severn Shore. Jackpot Farm was the winning bidder.

These stellar yearlings come after a $140,000 Mucho Macho Man colt at the Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Preferred auction and his $120,000 colt sales topper at Barretts August.
