Another Runaway Winner for Mucho Macho Man

10.05.2018 -

Mucho Unusual, a George Krikorian homebred half-sister to Big Score (GSW, $553,172), debuted with a runner-up effort to Creative Instinct in the Generous Portion S. at Del Mar Aug. 29. She was a hot item back in with maidens at Santa Anita and lived up to the hype with a runaway victory.

Showing good speed to argue the early pace from the inside, Mucho Unusual began to get away on the turn and was ridden out to a facile 8 1/4-length triumph to become the sixth winner for her sire, Breeders' Cup Classic champ Mucho Macho Man.

Mucho Unusual is the third blowout Maiden Special winner for Mucho Macho Macho in a 14 day span. She joins the Bob Baffert-trained Mucho Gusto, a $625,000 2-year-old purchase who earned 'TDN Rising Star' status for his September 20 debut tally That same afternoon Belle Laura captured a one mile Maiden Special over the Churchill Downs turf course by 4 1/2 lengths. Overall, Mucho Macho Man has been represented by five winners since early September.
