$725,000 Ghostzapper Colt at Keeneland September

09.14.2017 -

Hip #997, a colt by Hall of Famer Ghostzapper brought $725,000 during day four of the Keeneland September sale.

The handsome bay was purchased by Maverick Racing and China Horse Club from the Gainesway consignment. He's the second foal out of the Street Cry mare Any Why Not, a multiple Grade 1 performer.

"He's just a nice horse," said WinStar Farms's Elliot Walden. "He's a beautiful horse, well raised by Helen Groves...It's a great stallion-type family, so we'll see what happens."

The sale comes two days after Shadwell Estate purchased a Ghostzapper colt for $625,000.

Other Ghostzapper yearlings at Keeneland September have sold for $425,000, $375,000, $325,000, $320,000 and $310,000.

Ghostzapper's current crop of yearlings were bred on a $60,000 stud fee.

Ghostzapper is also the damsire of Hip #1041, the session four co-topper. His graded stakes-placed daughter Beloveda produced the $1 million colt by Scat Daddy.
