$550,000 Ghostzapper Colt at Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale

03.28.2019 -

A colt by leading sire Ghostzapper commanded a final bid of $550,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Two-Year-Old in Training sale conducted at Gulfstream Park.

The colt attracted buyers attention with a sparkling breeze, zipping and eighth mile in :10.1. His catalog page backed up what he showed on the track and around the barn. The gray/roan youngster is out of the Mr. Greeley mare Happy Now, a sister five Stakes winners including the millionaire multiple Graded winner Ironicus. The female line gets deeper from there and includes such recent stars as multiple Grade 1 winner Elate.

Centennial Farm, one of North America's leading racing partnerships, signed the ticket for the colt and later tweeted:

*Wow*! Our newest addition checks all the boxes and then some. World-class sire (#HallOfFame member Ghostzapper), phenomenal female family (cultivated by @claibornefarm and Janney), tremendous athletic potential (10.1 breeze), and, well... look at him!

The colt represents a successful pinhook for Q Bar J Thoroughbreds, who purchased the colt for $250,000 from the Denali Stud consignment at the 2018 Keeneland September auction.

Ghostzapper is among the leading sires in North America with 11% blacktype winners and 6% Graded winners from starters. In 2019 he's the sire of a trio of Stakes winners including The Very One S. (G3) heroine Holy Helena.
